Great Questions to Ask When Choosing a Window Cleaning Service

One of the reasons that Summerlin Property Services opened for business when we first began our journey was due to an extremely poor customer service experience when the owner tried to have the windows on his personal home cleaned. He called numerous Las Vegas window cleaning services and had trouble getting anyone to pick up the phone or return a voice mail message.  One company didn’t even show up after an appointment had been scheduled! Choosing the right professional property and window cleaning service will make all the difference in consistently clean windows handled in a courteous, prompt manner or an awful streaky mess and unprofessional, unlicensed or under insured service providers that don’t even show up.

Here are some questions you can ask that will help ensure you are choosing a high quality property cleaning service like Summerlin  Property Services.

#1:  Are you licensed and insured?

Protect yourself from the risk of lawsuits by asking about a business license and insurance. General liability insurance alone is not enough. Make certain that they also have a workman comp insurance policy. Save yourself from a potentially really big headache and do not hire a business that doesn’t have the proper insurance policies.

2: Do you have a satisfaction guarantee?

Professional window washing services should stand behind their work. Make sure you understand their policy.  What is your recourse if you are not satisfied?  Do you get a refund or will they re-wash the glass that doesn’t meet your standards? Having clarification on this will ensure you understand what can be expected if the situation ever arises. At Summerlin Property Services when your service is complete our crew leader will always offer to walk the property with you to make sure we did a great job AND we also give a 3-day guarantee.

#3: Will you give me a free estimate?

A well-established window cleaning company will agree to assess your job and give you an estimate, at no charge often right over the telephone on the first call.

#4: How long have you been in business?

It has been estimated that at least 50% of business fail in their first 3 years, however,  a company that has managed to stay in business for longer is probably doing something right.  They are likely reliable and provide quality work.

#5: Can you give me customer references?

A business that provides great customer service should have a slew of happy customers.  You should easily find a large number of reviews online at Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc. If not, that’s definitely a red flag and you should ask them to give you some references.

#6: Do you perform a background checks on your employees?

It’s important that a property service cleaning company performs background checks on their employees.  Background checks give you confidence that employees can be trusted.

Clean, pristine washed windows are key components of a well-maintained home or business.  Always ask these questions up front.  This information will assist you in reaching  an informed decision and avoiding a sub-par service provider.

How to prevent birds from crashing into clean windows

There’s nothing more fulfilling than a fresh window cleaning to make your home sparkle and shine! Clean windows really helps to maximize the amount of sunlight that is able to enter your home, but what about the birds? Anyone who has had their windows cleaned before has heard that awful thumping sound of a bird crashing into your newly cleaned windows. It can be a traumatizing experience not only for you and our fine feathered friends but also for your sparkling clean windows. So let’s discuss why birds fly into windows and what we can do to prevent it from happening.
Why Do Birds Crash into Windows?
In general, birds fly into windows because of reflections that cause an optical illusion that eliminates the window from the bird’s vision, especially when the window is clean and doesn’t have any dirt buildup to help alter the reflection. In daylight, plants outside of your house can reflect off of your windows, causing birds to treat the windows as vegetation. Additionally, birds may see indoor plants near your window ledge and be drawn to those indoor plants. At the right angle or lighting the birds may also see their reflection in the window and think it’s another bird and fly towards it.
4 Great Ways to Safeguard your Windows
1. Decals
An easy way to prevent birds from flying into your windows is by placing decals or stickers on window. These can be fun, especially for the holidays. For the summer, try placing cartoon flower decals on your windows, spaced a couple of feet apart from each other. This will reduce window reflection and still allow plenty of light into your home.
2. Exterior Curtains
Acopian Bird Savers are a great and easy way to save birds. Not only are these simple string curtains aesthetically pleasing, but they also work. You can purchase a custom set that fits your windows while offering a practical and quaint way to repel birds from your windows. How to clean window screens

Cleaning window screens in Las Vegas can be very challenging due to the dusty, dirty environment here in the desert. Window, door and solar screens collect so much dirt in Las Vegas that they become almost like filters covering your glass. A quick way to clean screens is to just hose them off. However, we do not recommend hosing down your screens with water. Yes, it is fast and it will remove some of the dirt but their are numerous issues with using water to clean your window screens. Unless you use strong water power (pressure washing) it will not remove all the dirt and if you use too much pressure it will put you at risk of tearing the window screens especially if the screens are sun worn. Additionally, Las Vegas has the hardest water in the United States and over time if you use water to clean screens you will end up with a nasty white calcium buildup on the screens. At Summerlin Window Cleaning we dry brush the screens on both sides using a soft bristle brush. We use good old fashioned elbow grease and brush both sides of the screen and gently brush around the screen tabs and pay extra attention to brushing the edges and corners. After we clean the screens with the brush we then apply a specially formulated, earth friendly application that gives the screens a shine and luster that will make them look brand new again! We then take a soft microfiber towel and wipe down the entire screen to ensure an even application over the entire screen and we also wipe all the dirt off the screen frames as well. The visual of having a screen that looks brand new again is great but the best part, once the application is applied to the screens it will prevent future dirt from sticking to the screens and keep your window screens cleaner longer then ever before. Our system does take more time but it is very effective and protects not damages your window screens. How often should I clean my windows?

Great question! Las Vegas is an extremely dusty and dirty environment. In other parts of the country you can have your windows cleaned every couple years and they will still look great but not in Las Vegas. Window cleaning in Las Vegas is a little different due to the harsh desert environment. We recommend that you have your exterior windows cleaned no less than 1 time per year for residential window cleaning. Our most common rotation is every 6 months and if you clean your windows quarterly or more often we will happily provide you with a 20% discount of any services you have performed. The interior windows once up to par do not need to be cleaned as often as the exterior windows as it is mostly just dust buildup on the inside glass. Things like dog nose and little kiddie hand prints can happen immediately after service so it’s really just the dust buildup we are concerned with when discussing interior window cleaning. For most people the dust build up will visually bother them in about 12-18 months. It’s very common for our customers to have their exterior windows cleaned 2-3 times for each time the interior windows are cleaned.
